The Mealing service is being provided by the city administration for all teachers in all primary and secondary schools, and 3,707 teachers in 256 schools under this program will get free meal service, according to the report from Wazema.

The teachers who teach in two shifts will be served twice a day, morning shift at 10:00 AM and afternoon shift at 3:00 PM.

The teachers that told Wazema said that considering the cost of living and the low salary they are getting paid, it is good to start the meal service by schools. According to the teachers, among the types of food offered to them are rice, macaroni, pasta and different types of vegetables.

The head of the city administration’s education office, Firekia Kasahun, said that it was necessary to start the teachers’ meal program mainly because it was believed to play a key role in bringing about changes in the quality of education.

He also pointed out that it is encouraging to start the program so that teachers can meet and help their students closely without leaving their schools and can do their work properly.

The head of the education office, who mentioned that there are various data indicating that there is a feeding program for teachers in other countries, said that the change seen in the education system in these schools is encouraging.
